A week of wellbeing

Rice Lane Primary School in Walton recently held a wellbeing week to highlight the importance of a healthy body and mind.

Children had the opportunity to talk about and promote good mental health through activities such as massage, relaxation, drumming, singing and dance.

They also held a well-being event after school, which was attended by parents and their children. Members of staff at Rice Lane pulled together to showcase their talents on the day, providing a plethora of activities for families to enjoy from gardening, yoga, sporting games and making healthy snacks to nail and face painting, crafts, mindful colouring and relax kids.

Local community support givers were also on hand to share their ideas and guidance on various issues such as bullying.

The Katumba drummers of which two of the staff are members provided entertainment along with the Singing Our Socks Off Choir who joined the event to share some of their uplifting tunes inkeeping with the theme of the day.

Miss Parry, deputy head at Rice Lane, had not forgotten the hard working staff during well-being week, organising an itinerary of relaxing activities including deck chairs on the newly designed quad area, a regeneration project led by Mrs Doyle, bacon butties to start the day and lunchtime relaxation. Parents kindly donated their time and skills to provide mid-week facials and reiki sessions too!

By the end of the week both children and adults had plenty of ideas to keep themselves healthy inside and out.
