Big cleanup at Roscoe

Staff, children and parents at Roscoe Primary School gave up their weekend and joined forces to tackle an overgrown wooded area, which they want to turn into a forest school.

Following an appeal from the school, dozens turned up to help the clean-up operation on the land to clear walkways, bag up rubbish and rake the area which also includes a small pond.

Plans for the land – which is at the rear of the school – include bumpy trails, dedicated wildlife watching areas, sensory play and outdoor reading areas once the area has been tidied up and made safe.

Headteacher Mrs Conqueror said: “We are all very grateful to everybody who gave up their time to help. We know we will have a very special place for the children to enjoy and learn in once we have finished the clear-up.

“It has been a real team effort.”
