Disco fever hits Ashurst

Pupils from Ashurst Primary School, Newton-le-Willows celebrated their success at the National Wildflower Centre Scarecrow Festival.
The school’s creation – Saturday Night Hayfever – took first prize in the Under 12s category.
All the scarecrows created by schools and community groups from across Merseyside were put on display around the centre for the two-day annual scarecrow festival.
Judging the competition was Carla Simkin, Knowsley culture, development and events officer.
Carla said: “It was a very difficult job of picking the winners and after lots of thought and deliberation we selected Ashurst stunning entry.
“All the entries where so unique, so interesting and so diverse, well done to everyone who entered the competition, they were all winners”.
