Eighteen schools were given special awards as part of a programme to get more children in Liverpool reading for pleasure.
Led by School Improvement Liverpool and supported by the National Literacy Trust, the Liverpool Reading Quality Mark has been developed to focus on promoting reading for enjoyment.
Pupils from primary and secondary schools across the city who have gained the award attended a special celebration event in Liverpool Central Library.

The successful schools included Heygreen Primary; New Park Primary; Broadgreen Primary; Calderstones School; Christ the King; De La Salle Academy; Knotty Ash; Leamington Primary; LIPA Primary; Matthew Arnold; Monksdown Primary; St Austin’s Catholic Primary; SFX; St Hugh’s Catholic Primary; St Julie’s Catholic High School; Wavertree CE; Stockton Wood Primary and Mabb Lane Primary.
