Rainford High welcomes back Year 10 students

Year 10 students have made a welcome return to Rainford High as the school begins to slowly reopen to certain year groups, under the Government’s latest guidelines.

Over the last seven days, 60% of the cohort have attended school and had face-to-face sessions with subject teachers and support teams to ensure they are in the best place possible to move forward with their studies in Year 11.

The remaining students have continued to access online virtual tutorials to support their progress at home.

The school has been working tirelessly to create a safe environment so that more students and staff can return. Clear social distancing signage has been put up around the buildings and staff have produced a video demonstrating the new measures that must be followed.

Speaking about returning to school, student Elizabeth Heath, said: “I was not nervous about coming in because I saw the video on safety precautions on the school website beforehand. I think it has been really worthwhile being in school because I can see my teachers face to face and go over my work.”

Ian Young, principal of Rainford High, said: “For everyone it has been a very strange and challenging few months and our return to school is very different from how we left due to the social distancing and health and safety measures that are now in place.

“Students have been positive about their return and it has been emotional for everyone to reconnect after the anxiety of the pandemic over the last few months.”
