Maghull High achieves a trio of extra-curricular success 

Maghull High School prides itself on the range of extra-curricular activities it offers and encourages all students from Years 7 to 13 to get involved. 

Last week, saw students at the school host and take part in a variety of clubs and competitions.  

Rounders Event for YST National School Sports Week

On Thursday, students across the Southport Learning Trust enjoyed an afternoon of sport, teamwork, and community as the school proudly hosted the trust’s rounders event. This was in celebration Youth Sport Trust’s National School Sports Week. 

Students from came together to form cross-school teams and supported one another throughout the day. 

The day’s event reminded students of sport’s power to unite, inspire and build friendships beyond school boundaries. 

Debaters Without Borders

Maghull High School’s ‘Debate Mate’ teams from Year 7 to Year 10 went international, as they participated in a ‘Debaters Without Borders’ event. Held on Thursday 19 June, students competed against teams in Nigeria. 

This opportunity provided students with a fantastic experience to learn about different cultures. 

Volunteering with Maghull in Bloom

Maghull High School’s ‘Eco Gardening Club’ met with ‘Maghull in Bloom’ volunteers at the Meadows Leisure Complex. They helped weed the garden areas and plant new flowers outside of the library.  

Attended by students from Year 7 and 8 who got stuck in under the guidance of the volunteers, they also learned how to support the wider community and its green spaces in the future. 

Students are now looking at how they can use their new gardening knowledge back at school.

Mrs Christian, who runs the ‘Eco Gardening Club’, has recently signed up to the RHS School Gardening Club scheme for further tips and ideas that can used in school.
