IChemE and All About Futures team up

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and All About Futures have announced a brand-new partnership. Together, they will deliver DiscoverChemEngLIVE Challenge Days in schools during this academic year and beyond.

IChemE and All About Futures developed this programme. CATCH, Education Academy Scotland and RTC North are delivering it regionally.

It will give schools across Merseyside & Cheshire, Yorkshire & the Humber, Scotland and the North East the chance to explore the world of chemical, biochemical and process engineering. Students will take part in interactive, hands‑on experiences. Best of all, the programme is offered at no cost to schools.

DiscoverChemEngLIVE aims to spark curiosity, confidence and creativity in Year 8 students from state‑funded schools. Each Challenge Day blends imagination with practical problem-solving. It will involve a series of fast-paced, team-based activities, from tackling sustainability challenges to uncovering how engineers transform everyday materials like seaweed, graphite, and sand into the products we all rely on.

The goal is to show students how chemical and process engineers make a real difference. These careers combine creativity, collaboration and innovation to develop sustainable solutions that improve lives and protect the planet.

Dr Rachel Bibby, director of Member Experience and Professional Learning shared her thoughts:

“Building on the recent success of DiscoverChemEngLIVE events, I am delighted that we’ll be bringing chemical and process engineering to more young people through our collaboration with experienced delivery partners in these targeted areas in the UK. These events are so important for showcasing chemical and process engineering as an exciting and varied career path and where local employers can demonstrate the range of opportunities they have on offer to future talent.”
