SENDSCOPE’s exciting Careers Programme
Over the course of this academic year, students at SENDSCOPE have been benefitting from an exciting
careers programme that aims to prepare them for the world of work.
SENDSCOPE is committed to ensuring that young people are exposed to a range of advice, guidance and opportunities in order to make informed decisions about not only their future education but their
future careers.
Information, advice, and guidance (IAG) in schools aims to raise young people’s aspirations, giving them skills and knowledge for a successful transition into adult life.
With this in mind, the young people have had access to expert careers advice from Career Connect through one-to-one interviews and sessions on aiming high and raising aspirations, GCSE options and pathways and the local labour market.
When asked about the impact of the careers programme, Mrs Bebbington, SENDSCOPE principal and careers lead stated: “At SENDSCOPE we understand how essential it is for schools to prioritise careers guidance.
“Having a structured careers programme deeply embedded into our school’s curriculum, shows students the wide variety of opportunities available to them. Although our students are in Key Stage 3, we are of the belief that it is never too early to begin discussing the future.”
Ms Hubbard, class teacher, said: “We are like careers detectives, we look for careers in all that we do! Every topic we cover and every trip we go on, we make a priority to ask ourselves, which job roles are here? Who can I question about this? Our enquiry skills have greatly developed because of it!”
This term, SENDSCOPE will continue to develop its careers education, bringing employer encounters to life via a virtual reality headset. Who knows, the next Elon Musk could be in their midst?
