SLD pupils compete in wheelchair rugby event
Two of the region’s schools for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) got together for a day of wheelchair rugby held at St Mary’s Catholic School in Wallasey.
Organised by the Liverpool Schools Sports Partnership (LSSP), children from Elleray Park School and Redbridge High School took part in a morning full of fun drills before competing against each other in wheelchair rugby.
Sports Leaders from St Mary’s were on hand throughout the event offering encouragement and advice to the competitors and even found time to take part in a tug-of-war competition.
Event organiser, LSSP’s Jess McNally said it had been “another fantastic day of sport,” and hailed the Sports Leaders as being a “credit to themselves and the school”.
