Celebrations at Rainford High on GCSE results day

Today, Thursday 24 August, Year 11 students from Rainford High returned to school to collect their GCSE results.

After a summer of waiting, students were excited to finally get their hands on their highly anticipated GCSE and BTEC results that they had worked so hard for over the past few years.

Rainford High saw great results with 77% of students achieving a standard pass in English and maths and 53% achieving a strong pass in both English and maths.

Overall, students performed brilliantly in a wide range of subjects across the curriculum.

Holly Hirst achieved seven grade 9s and three grade 8s.

Achieving seven grade 9s, two 8s, and a grade 7, Harrison Oulton is looking forward to his A-level studies.

Sam Barlow received six grade 9s and four grade 8s.

Another student who performed phenomenally is Sophie Ralfs. She achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s, and a distinction*.

Reggie Davison obtained four 9s, three 8s and two 7s.

Daisy Wilson received four grade 9s, three grade 8s, and two 7s in her GCSEs.

Following their time at the school, many students will pursue the varied A-level and BTEC offering at Rainford High Sixth Form, which is also based on the site.

Principal of Rainford High, Mr Ian Young, said: “I would like to say a huge congratulations to all of our Year 11 students for their continuous hard work throughout their studies and all that they have achieved. Both I and the rest of the school community are incredibly proud. Their commitment to learning has been outstanding and is especially evident today.

“We are excited to welcome back so many of our students in September as they embark on their sixth form journey and wish the best of luck to those who will instead be continuing on to apprenticeships and other exciting opportunities.”
