New building for Wavertree School

Northway Primary School in Wavertree, is weeks away from welcoming pupils in to its new school building

The building will officially open on Monday June 15 and has been built on the school’s existing site. The two-storey building will see the school expand to a two-form entry school and nursery to support 420 pupils aged 3-11.

Construction of the new building started in July 2014 by Morgan Sindall and is being delivered under the North West Construction Hub.

Facilities will include a student cookery room, immersive space and state of the art smart boards in the classrooms.

Demolition of the old school site will also make way for new playgrounds and landscaping of the gardens.

The construction of the new school is part of Mayor Joe Anderson’s Schools Investment Programme and a response to growing pupil numbers and increased demand for school places in the local area.

The school build has been an exciting time for the school and its pupils, with pupils visiting the construction site over recent months to see the building take shape and track the progress.
