Praise for St Margaret’s students

St Margaret’s Academy is celebrating another year of excellent achievement as students pick up their A-level, AS-level and BTEC results.

The academy in Aigburth has reported another impressive year of results with a 96% pass rate this year, and 36% of grades awarded coming in between A*- B.

Special mention goes to Matthew Oldfield who has been offered a place to read engineering at the University of Cambridge, achieving three A* and one A grade.

Matthew said: “I’m really looking forward to starting at Cambridge. Thank you to all the staff at St Margaret’s who have helped me to get there”.

Principal Stephen Brierley, said: “I’m so pleased that so many of our sixth formers have achieved highly this year. Matthew has done superbly well, but the day was about celebrating the success of the many, many St Margaret’s students who have made good progress from their starting-points.

“Their fantastic results don’t come about by accident: they are tribute to their own hard work, the high quality of teaching here, the commitment and support of our parents, and the outstanding pastoral care we are able to offer at our academy.

“This emphasis on taking care of all students, regardless of their ability, has long been a feature of St Margaret’s Sixth Form’s ethos, and at no time is that more important than a day like results day.

“All in all it’s another vintage year for post-16 results here at St Margaret’s. Many congratulations to all our students – we are proud of you!”
