Rainford High Sixth Form applauds another year of strong results

Students at Rainford High Sixth Form are celebrating today after receiving an impressive set of A-level and BTEC results, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

Success across the sixth form

There were smiles, excitement and plenty of proud moments across the sixth form as students opened their results and looked ahead to the next stage of their journeys. Staff were delighted to congratulate students on their achievements. They provided support as students prepare for university, apprenticeships, employment or further training.

Rainford High Sixth Form, part of the Everyone Matters Schools Trust, has once again delivered strong results. Applied subjects’ indicative value added at +0.68 and 97 per cent of all BTEC qualifications were graded Distinction* to Merit. At A-level, 45 per cent of all entries were graded A* to B.

Achievement and ambition on display

Among this year’s standout achievers were:

• Louie Raven achieved an A in history, A in politics and a Distinction* in media. Louie plans to study marketing, with a year in industry, at the University of Liverpool.
• Twin brothers Alistair and Henry Ballad are both heading to Durham University to pursue careers in engineering. Henry achieved an A* in maths, A in chemistry and further maths and a B in further maths. Alistair achieved an A* in maths, A in physics, B in further maths and C in geography.
• Freya Ashcroft achieved an A* in EPQ, A in biology, B in Spanish and C in chemistry. Freya plans to study biomedical sciences at the University of Birmingham.
• Ruby Wilson achieved three A grades in biology, chemistry and maths. Ruby plans to go on to study veterinary medicine and surgery at the University of Lancashire.
• Joe Edwards achieved two Distinction* in business and media alongside an A grade in history and a B in level 3 maths. Joe will be pursuing a career in accountancy and finance following completion of his studies at the University of Liverpool.

Henry Ballad was very appreciative of the support he had received during his time at Rainford High and its sixth form. He said:

“Without the help and guidance I have received throughout my GCSEs and A-levels, none of this would be possible. I’m excited to be going to Durham University to pursue my degree in engineering.’

Paying tribute to a remarkable cohort

Based at Rainford High, the sixth form welcomes students from across St Helens and beyond to study a wide choice of A-level and vocational qualifications. Students benefit from personalised support, experienced staff and a range of enrichment opportunities designed to prepare them for life beyond sixth form.
