Strong results pave the way for St Michael’s students

GCSE and BTEC results day marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Year 11 students at St Michael’s Church of England Academy today.

Throughout the morning, students returned to the Crosby-based academy to find out the grades they had been working towards. The class of 2026 had the opportunity to catch up with their teachers and share this pivotal moment with family and friends.

As conversations turned to the future, staff were on hand to offer advice and guidance. They helped students explore their next steps, whether preparing for sixth form, college, apprenticeships or a wide range of other opportunities.

Performance highlights

Proud to be part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, St Michael’s Church of England Academy has continued to build on its strong performance. This year’s students achieved excellent results across a broad range of GCSE and BTEC qualifications.

The 2026 results demonstrate further progress across key measures. There were increases in Attainment 8 and in the proportion of students securing five standard passes and five strong passes This included English and mathematics.

There were also standout performances across a number of subjects, including design technology, history and Spanish.

Student success stories

Among those celebrating was Harry Hollingshead, who received eight grade 9s and a grade 7. He will be heading to college to study a range of A-levels.

Harry said:

“The best thing about being at St Michael’s is the community, the spirit, and the heart of the school itself. I have had a really great time here.”

Twin sisters Samantha and Isabella Molyneux both secured a fabulous set of results.

Samantha achieved two grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s, a grade 6 and a Distinction*. She is looking forward to beginning her A-levels, with the goal of studying law at university.

Isabella secured a grade 8, a grade 7, five grade 6s, a grade 5 and a Distinction*. She is heading to a nearby college and wants to join the RAF to train to be a fighter pilot.

Meanwhile, Reuben Cornwall is delighted to have achieved a grade 9, seven grade 7s and a Distinction*.

Leadership reflections

For many students, results day was also an opportunity to thank the teachers and support staff who had encouraged them throughout the last five years.

Prospective students and their families can experience The St Michael’s Way for themselves at the academy’s open evening on 17 September from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, while exploring the school and learning more about the opportunities available. Headteacher’s talks will take place at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.
