Year 11 students celebrate GCSE and BTEC achievements at The Academy of St Nicholas

The Academy of St Nicholas, Garston, was filled with excitement today as Year 11 students collected their GCSE and BTEC results.

There was a mixture of nerves, excitement and celebration across the academy as students opened their results alongside family, friends and staff, marking the end of their Year 11 journey.

A strong set of results

This year’s results include some outstanding individual and subject successes, with students achieving excellent grades across GCSE and BTEC qualifications. Particularly strong results were seen in English language and English literature, art and design, performing arts, sport, construction, and iMedia. Many students also exceeded expectations in mathematics and Spanish.

Overall, The Academy of St Nicholas has seen a three-year improvement in results.

Both part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, many students will now continue their education at All Saints Sixth Form College, located on the same campus as the academy. They will study a variety of A-level and vocational courses. Some students have chosen other alternatives such as colleges, apprenticeships and employment.

Hard work rewarded

Moaseeb Ahmed achieved grade 8 or higher in more than five subjects. This included mathematics, English language, English literature, combined science and iMedia. He will continue his studies at All Saints Sixth Form College from September.

Staff are particularly proud of Abisola Adeleke for achieving a grade 9 in both English language and English literature. She will also join All Saints Sixth Form College as she embarks on her Level 3 journey.

Sky Rose Ainsworth also achieved grade 8 or above in five subjects, including English language, mathematics, science, religious studies and history.

Staff celebrate student success

Headteacher, Mr Gary Lloyd, said:

“I would like to congratulate every one of our Year 11 students on their achievements. They should be incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished during their time at The Academy of St Nicholas.

“Results day is about much more than grades. It is about recognising the progress our students have made, the challenges they have overcome and the young people they have become. It has been a privilege to watch them grow over the last five years.”

“We are delighted to see so many students continuing their education at All Saints Sixth Form College, while others move on to college, apprenticeships and employment. We wish every one of them the very best as they take their next steps and look forward to seeing what the future holds.”

The Academy of St Nicholas will give prospective students and their families the opportunity to find out more about the academy and experience life there first-hand at its open evening on 1 October from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.
