Winstanley College awarded mark for outstanding teaching in science and maths

Winstanley College has been awarded The Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) Schools Programme Mark for outstanding teaching in maths and science.

To achieve the PTI Mark, departments have to demonstrate that they have increased the challenge within their subject curriculum; developed their staff’s own specialist subject knowledge; developed subject-based links outside school and enthused their pupils through subject-based activities beyond the curriculum.

Winstanley’s maths and science departments achieved the mark in recognition of the work they have done to stretch and challenge students of the college and also to promote the subjects, and the opportunities they provide, within local high schools.

Louise Tipping, principal at Winstanley College said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the PTI Mark for our maths and science departments’ innovative work, and will be proud to carry the mark on our stationery and website as evidence of our commitment to inspirational teaching.”
