Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic and CofE Academy’s class of 2026 celebrates GCSE and BTEC results

There were plenty of smiles and cheers at Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic and Church of England Academy, Runcorn, this morning. Students, alongside their friends and family, gathered to collect their GCSE and BTEC results.

Excellent results mark a proud day

Blessed Carlo Acutis is a proud member of the St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust (SJCMAT). This year’s results reflect the caring, yet aspirational educational experience the school offers its students through a varied and ambitious curriculum. 

For a second consecutive year, Blessed Carlo Acutis has seen improved student progress. It saw a record number of learners awarded grades 7s, 8s and 9s across all subject areas. 

The school has also recorded an increase in the number of students achieving grade 5 or above in English, maths and combined science. 

School leaders reflect

Headteacher of Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic and Church of England Academy, Miss Alicia Freeman, said:

“GCSE results day is always a highlight in our academic calendar, as it provides a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the successes of our students.

“Every one of our Year 11 students has worked hard and gone above and beyond, including regularly attending school on a Saturday morning to take part in revision sessions. They have demonstrated our values of ‘responsus’, responding positively to challenges, ‘respicio’, looking towards the future, and ‘perseverantia’, perseverance, to reach this important milestone, and today, they are reaping the rewards of their hard work.

“As students embark on their next chapter, I encourage them to approach the opportunities ahead with the same pride, ambition and positivity that have served them so well at Blessed Carlo Acutis. Congratulations, once again, Year 11 – we are incredibly proud of you, and wish you every success in the future as you go onto the next phase in your studies.”
