GCSE success for St Margaret’s CE Academy

St Margaret’s Academy is celebrating another year of excellent achievement as students pick up their GCSE results today.

Principal Stephen Brierley was delighted with the results at St Margaret’s. This year almost two-thirds of students passed five or more subjects including ‘strong passes’ in English and maths.

At GCSE, many students have beaten or exceeded their targets, clearing the way for them to progress to further study in the sixth form.

These results follow a successful A-level results day last week which saw sixth form students achieve a 95% pass rate, with 31% of grades awarded coming in between A* and B.

Stephen said: “We’re all delighted that once again, so many of our students have realised their potential here at St Margaret’s. Following on from a great set of post-16 results last week, I am thrilled that our Year 11 students have achieved so highly too.

“Today is about celebrating every student’s achievement – not only those who have achieved A*s and 9s, but also those who have worked just as hard to achieve other grades. All those results are a testament to the students’ own hard work; to our high quality of teaching; to the support of parents, and to the outstanding pastoral care we are able to offer at St Margaret’s Academy.”
