Merchant Taylors’ host Big Bang event with Rachel Riley

A exciting event aimed at inspiring young women to study STEM based subjects took place today (Thursday 6 October) at Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School.

Organised and hosted by Merchant Taylors’ School and facilitated by All About STEM, the day included a special appearance by Countdown’s Rachel Riley as keynote speaker. Rachel talked passionately about her background in maths and put her skills to action by working with pupils on different maths equations.

All About STEM are the team behind The Big Bang North West and can facilitate Big Bang Days for schools across the region. Big Bang at School Days bring STEM to life and make it fun.

The day also included talks from guest speakers Dr Anna Slater and Dr Melanie Windridge and a careers fair with a wide range of companies and Universities in attendance such as Unilever, Sellafield, Landrover, Amec and Liverpool Hope University.

Other schools from across the region were also invited on the day, including Chesterfield High School, Hillside High, Deyes High, Archbishop Beck, Broadgreen International, Formby High and St Michael’s.
