Formby High’s Mundo Afrika heading to the Royal Albert Hall

Formby High School’s acclaimed Mundo Afrika choir has been invited to perform at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in November.

Following a superb performance at the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham, the award-winning world music choir will take centre stage at the Music for Youth School Proms.

The annual event takes place over three nights in the world’s most famous concert hall and allows over 1000 young musicians to take part in a concert like no other.

The event features full-scale youth orchestras to some of the best jazz bands, chamber groups, rock bands and choirs from across the UK. All performed in front of 5,000 people, the event is due to be a spectacular occasion for all involved.

Mundo Afrika have a proven track record within the Music for Youth world, receiving numerous performance awards over the past 15 years. They performed at the Schools Proms in 2001 with the ‘first generation’ of performers.

This year, the talented singers and drummers have been training the ‘next generation’ and incorporated some equally talented ‘mini’ Mundo Afrikans from Freshfield Primary and Trinity St. Peter’s Primary School.

The world choir has also performed at the Educate Awards ceremony on numerous occasions, wowing guests with their dynamic and energetic set and are set to return this year.

The young performers will travel down to London for their once in a lifetime performance on Tuesday 15 November.
