Rainford High raises money for Liverpool school

Year 8 students at Rainford High have been working hard to raise money for St Vincent’s School, a specialist school for sensory impairment.

The philanthropic year group chose to support the West Derby school after being introduced to a teacher at St Vincent’s, who explained how the school requires additional support and income in order to continue providing first-class education to students with visual impairments.

Each form, within the year group, has held their own fundraising activities throughout the term, in a bid to achieve a combined sum of £1,500 for St Vincent’s.

Some opted for a traditional bake sale, selling delicious home-baked goods, whilst other students hosted a raffle and gave away a hamper.

Other initiatives included a Disco at Dinner, a sponsored silence and some even shaved their heads!

Shaila Trivedi, Year 8 progress leader, said: “It is fantastic that our Year 8s are so dedicated in raising money for St Vincent’s. “Ever since our students were introduced to the school, they have been keen to help them in any way possible. It has become quite competitive between the forms which has helped to raise the profile of St Vincent’s in the school, and in turn, it has encouraged more donations from other year groups.”

After half term, one student from each form will visit St Vincent’s and take part in a special assembly, presenting them with a cheque.
