St John Bosco celebrate namesake with special event

St John Bosco Arts College in Croxteth, Liverpool, hosted a special event this week to celebrate the life of St John Bosco.

The whole school took part in the yearly event which celebrates the life of St John Bosco, with different activities taking place including making friendship bracelets; trying out circus skills; sewing; creating Salesian superheroes; as well as dance and drama.

The feast day is a long-standing tradition for the school, which is the only all-girls school in the UK to be attached to the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco.

Year 11 students were tasked with designing prom tickets, while sixth form students took part in dementia awareness workshops and hand massage sessions.

All the activities were designed to link back to the life of St John Bosco, focusing on friendship and creativity.

The day culminated in a whole school mass, where all members of the school body came together to worship in celebration of St John Bosco.

Headteacher, Darren Gidman, said: “Our annual feast day is always eagerly anticipated among all pupils and staff, as it’s a unique opportunity for the entire school to come together in celebration of our namesake.

“Taking part in various fun activities on the day was a great opportunity for the girls to get out of the classroom and come together to cement relationships across the school. Our motto is ‘serve the lord with gladness’, and our annual feast day is the perfect opportunity to see this fulfilled.”
