St John Plessington celebrate GCSEs

Year 11 students from St John Plessington Catholic College, Bebington, received a warm welcome from staff this morning as they came to collect their GCSE results. 

Students were in high spirits as they found out that their hard work had paid off after enduring an unusual couple of years at school due to the restrictions put in place as a consequence of the pandemic. 

For a while, students prepared for their GCSEs through online learning and returned to the classroom in September 2021.  

Most students will continue their studies at St John Plessington’s Sixth Form College where they will embark on a range of A-level and BTEC qualifications.  

The students at St John Plessington (SJP) have achieved 66% of all grades as a standard pass or better and 43% gaining a strong pass or better, in vocational qualifications 46% achieved a distinction or distinction*. 

In a challenging year for young people, SJP has ensured that there are a variety of routes for all students in sixth form so that they are able to fulfil their potential. 

Headteacher of the school, Ms Maria Sharratt, said: “It has been wonderful to see our Year 11 students and their families once again. 

“I am really pleased for them seeing them all receive their results today as I know how hard they have worked. 

“Despite the impact of the pandemic, Year 11 continuously enriched our school community and maintained a positive attitude to school and they should be very proud of themselves. 

“I wish each and every student the best whether they decide to stay with us for sixth form or embark on the next stage of their education somewhere else.”
