St John Rigby College’s Class of 2025 – Another Outstanding Year of Achievement

St John Rigby College (SJR) is celebrating another exceptional year of examination results, marking the continued success of students and the dedication of staff. The class of 2025 has shown that with ambition, resilience and support, there truly is no ceiling to achievement.

Excellent results

This summer, students achieved near-perfect pass rates, with 70 per cent securing a high grade (A*/A/B/Dist*/Dist). These outcomes reflect not only academic excellence but also the determination and personal growth of each individual.

At SJR, the focus is on nurturing the whole person, helping students to become the very best version of themselves. Behind every grade lies a story of perseverance, transformation and triumph. Whether progressing to prestigious universities, starting higher and degree apprenticeships or moving into employment, students are stepping into their futures with confidence and purpose.

Principal’s pride

Newly appointed principal, Paula Nolan, shared her pride in this year’s cohort. She said:

“The distance our young people travel during their time at SJR is truly extraordinary. They leave us not only with outstanding academic results but also with the ambition and readiness to thrive in aspirational destinations. This year, our students have secured places on elite degree courses as well as highly sought-after apprenticeships with organisations including BAE Systems, Barclays, United Utilities, Wigan Council and Merseyside Police.”

Achievements beyond the classroom

Beyond academic success, SJR students continue to make their mark. From representing their country in national-level sports to leading community initiatives or winning Wigan’s Battle of the Bands, achievements go far beyond life at the college.

This summer, St John Rigby College received the National Award for Careers and Skills from the Sixth Form Colleges Association. The award recognises the college’s commitment to preparing students for the future, supported by national acclaim for its pastoral care.
