St Mary’s Catholic College Sixth Form Students Achieve Amazing A-level and BTEC Results

Today [Thursday, 14 August], Year 13 students at St Mary’s Catholic College in Wallasey returned to school to collect their A-level, BTEC, and T-Level results.

St Mary’s Catholic College, a proud member of Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust, has seen a significant improvement in results overall. Students arrived from 8am to receive their results and take the first steps on their new journeys, including university, apprenticeships, employment, and further education college courses.

Standout Student Achievements

Katie Welch achieved Distinction, Distinction, and an A-level grade B in child development, health and social care, and psychology. She will go on to the University of Liverpool to study psychology.

Daisy Wiggins secured Distinction and Distinction* in performing arts, music performance, and English literature. She plans to study musical theatre at the Liverpool Media Academy.

Emily Higgins achieved a Merit in her T Level in education and will study primary education with QTS at Liverpool Hope University.

Renee Beardmore received Distinction, Distinction, and Merit in business and health and social care and is heading to Edge Hill University to study social work.

Matthew McGovern achieved Distinction, Distinction, and an A-level grade C in business, history, and sport. He will study sports business at Liverpool John Moores University.

Cruz Powney secured Distinction, Distinction, and Merit in business, applied science, and sport and will head to Bangor University to study marine biology.

Joe Flynn achieved Merit, Merit, and Merit in business, information technology, and sport and will go on to Liverpool John Moores University to study professional policing.

T-Level Success and Future Plans

Students who completed T-Levels in education excelled, achieving top grades equivalent to three A-levels and securing university places. Destinations include the University of Liverpool, University of Leeds, and University of York, with courses ranging from physics, business and sport, forensics, policing, and physiotherapy.

Several students are beginning apprenticeships next year, including positions with Airbus and in childcare.

Head of sixth form, Miss Jo Jones, said: “This morning’s celebrations have been the perfect ending to a brilliant two years for our Year 13 students. Throughout their time with us at St Mary’s Catholic College Sixth Form, they have demonstrated relentless determination to achieve the very best results possible, and they should be extremely proud of their achievements.”

Mr Kevin Maddocks, headteacher of St Mary’s Catholic College, added: “It has been fantastic seeing our Year 13 students opening their results this morning. Results day is always such a memorable moment in a student’s academic career, and it’s been incredible to share this special occasion with them today.

“As students close their chapter at St Mary’s Catholic College Sixth Form and open a new one as they embark on their next journey, I would like to wish them the very best of luck for the future. Congratulations Class of 2025!”
