Rainford High donates over 800 chocolate eggs to foodbank
Rainford High has celebrated another successful charity collection, with an exciting house competition that brought together generosity and school spirit. The school’s annual Easter campaign encourages students to support families in need by donating chocolate eggs to the local foodbank.
Students from all five houses competed to collect as many eggs as they could. For every egg donated, they earned 20 house points and the chance to win a special house prize.
The winning house, Resilience, collected an impressive total of 202 eggs. In total, 850 eggs were donated to the local St Helens Foodbank, helping to support the local community during this season of giving. That’s roughly equivalent to between £2,000 to £3,000 in donated eggs.
A member of staff personally delivered the donations before the end of term.
The initiative was first launched nine years ago by the director of business and finance, Miss Alexandra Fairclough-Marsh, and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Miss Alexandra Fairclough-Marsh said:
“Thank you to all the students and parents who contributed to this collection, especially those students who purchased eggs using their own pocket money to support this worthwhile cause. It was wonderful to see everyone embrace our ‘Everyone Helps, Everyone Matters and Everyone Succeeds’ ethos.”
