Top 10 in the world for sports-related subjects for LJMU
Liverpool John Moores has been named in the top 10 best universities in the world for sports-related subjects by the global QS higher education league table.
The QS ranking is based on surveying expert academics globally and employers who recruit graduates in the discipline. It also takes into account research output and impact, with both citations per paper and h-index citations measured over a five-year period.
LJMU has long been world-renowned in sport and exercise sciences and related disciplines and pioneered the world’s first BSc in sport science in 1975.
This QS ranking of 9th in the world in 2022 out of 132 universities for sports related subjects – up from 15th in 2021 – reflects its increasingly respected international reputation and world-leading research work.
Welcoming LJMU’s break into the Top 10 of the rankings, Professor Bill Baltzopoulos, head of the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES), said: “We attract students and academics from all over the world because of the quality and relevance of our work not only to sports science but to physical activity, health and education.
“Being at the top of the global rankings is testament to the ambition, dedication and application of our staff, students and our many academic collaborators and partners in the industries and the communities we serve”.
