Visitor with a spring in her step

Bishop David Sheppard CE Primary School, Southport had a surprise celebrity visitor to their school much to the delight of pupils and staff.

Hannah Whelan, super-gymnast and gold and bronze medalist, visited the school and spoke to all the pupils and staff about her career, inspiring some children to become the future sports men and women and champions in their chosen sports.

Karen Tarjomi, community engagement consultant at Bishop David Sheppard, said: “Children across the whole school had the opportunity to try different gymnastic moves, and they all joined in a sponsored activity circuit before a demonstration and training session.

“Everyone had super fun and found Hannah’s visit very inspirational. Money raised from the sponsored circuit will go towards supporting extra- curricular activities.”
