8,000 young people embrace engineering quiz

Young people across the UK have taken part in a fun and interactive quiz to help them explore the different careers in engineering.

As part of Tomorrow’s Engineers Week, over 8,000 young people took part in The Big Quiz for students aged 11 to 16, which remains open until 2pm on 12 November. Schools whose students complete the online quiz are in with the chance of winning one of two £1,000 prizes.

The Week, now in its eighth year, has seen engineering institutions, employers and schools coming together to deliver inspiring activity to show young people the vital importance of engineering careers and deliver advice about how to become an engineer in the future.

This included the Royal Academy of Engineering’s annual This is Engineering Day on Wednesday 4 November, celebrating the engineering that shapes our world for the better.

Tomorrow’s Engineers Week follows the news that a generation of young people are rapidly reassessing their career dreams following COVID-19. Read more, here.

Dr Hilary Leevers, Chief Executive of EngineeringUK, saidWe would like to thank the thousands of schools, employers and professional engineering institutions that have come together to make Tomorrow’s Engineers Week a huge success.

“Let’s build on this week of collective activity to ensure that all young people get the support they need to be inspired by and understand more about the thousands of future engineering roles available in infrastructure, decarbonisation and maintenance projects to upgrade our hospitals, schools and road network, make public buildings greener and help the UK achieve its aspirations of achieving Net Zero by 2050.”
