Alsop students participate in schools dragon boat racing competition

Alsop High School entered a mixed team into the 2019 Confucius Institute Schools Dragon Boat Race at Liverpool Water sports Centre, Queens Dock. The school has taken part in the competition every year since its launch in 2014.
Deputy director of the Confucius Institute, John Tasker, said: “Dragon boat racing is a growing sport in the UK and worldwide with its unique combination of traditional culture, sport and teamwork.

“You can see why when you see all the smiling faces today. I’m delighted that the Liverpool Confucius Institute has once again been able to organise this event and give young people across Merseyside the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture, keep fit and have fun.”

Mrs Paul Deacon said: “The competition was well organised and the students enjoyed the experience of taking part in an activity that was totally new and challenging and a great day was enjoyed by all.

“Students are being encouraged to take part in further planned activities at the centre which include canoeing, paddle boarding and sailing”.
