Christmas cheer for pensioners

The children and staff of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School, Aintree helped to bring a little bit of Christmas to a local group of pensioners.

The school were able to bring everyone together just for one day which they say made a difference allowing friends to come together who had not seen each other for over a year due to illness or opportunity or they hadn’t been able to get out, many people also made new friends on the day.

Elizabeth Jones from Blessed Sacrament, said: “The afternoon began with the choir signing some traditional carols followed by dinner which was served by our Year 6 children and a game of bingo followed. Year 2 children delivered the presents and then it was time to go home.

“We would like to extend a huge ’thank you’ for the support from local businesses and we will be doing this again next year bigger and better (if possible)”.

The school has since received many thank you cards and letters from the pensioners letting them know what a difference it has made to them. One even said that this was the best Christmas she had had so far, and being 86 that’s emotional.
