College@Deyes celebrates superb A-level and BTEC results

It was a day filled with celebrations on 17 August at Deyes High School’s college, College@Deyes, as A-level and BTEC results showed that despite their disrupted and difficult journey, students not only rose to the challenge but performed to a superb level across all subjects. 

70% of students achieved A*-C grades, with incredible numbers receiving A*-B grades across the A-level courses. Additionally, 79% of students received Distinction*- Merit grades in the vocational courses which, alongside the A-level performance, has ensured fantastic destinations for students as they take their next steps. 

Mrs Beaney, head of school, said “We would like to congratulate every student on their achievements over the last two years. I am so impressed by the variety of university courses, apprenticeships and other opportunities our students are now beginning.  

“The determination and resilience they have shown has been incredible. Everyone here at College@Deyes is so proud of them and their success is well deserved.” 

Student Joseph Ball achieved three A* grades and will be heading off to the University of Manchester to study mechanical engineering. 

Ellis Barr who achieved AAB is going to the University of Liverpool to study biomedical science, and will be joined by fellow student Grant Gibbs is going to the same university to do the same degree. 

Miss Griffith Evans, director of sixth form at College@Deyes, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our students. Their hard work and determination to succeed is clear!  

“Despite all of the obstacles they’ve had to overcome throughout their educational journey, they have all demonstrated today that they are resilient individuals who have bright futures ahead of them. I look forward to seeing them all flourish on their degree courses and apprenticeships.”
