Happy faces at All Saints Sixth Form College on A-level results day

All Saints Sixth Form College students were back at college today as they collected their A-level and BTEC results.

The sixth form, which is based in Garston, achieved the highest results ever in English and maths A-levels. 

In English, 66% of students achieved a B or higher and in maths 66% achieved a C or higher.

The college also saw 100% of students achieve A*-C grades in religious studies and Spanish. In addition to this, overall, 57% of students obtained A*-C grades and 12% A*-A.

87% of students achieved a merit or above in their vocational results and 46% of all vocational grades were at distinction and distinction*.

Students celebrated with friends and family. 

Successes include Orinta who achieved an A* in mathematics, an A* in chemistry and an A in biology. Orinta has secured a place to study medicine at the University of Liverpool.

On receiving her results, Orinta said: “I was so nervous I didn’t sleep. I am just so happy that I get to study medicine – it is my dream!”

Rebecca achieved an A* in childcare, a distinction* in applied science and a distinction in health and social care. She will now go on to study child nursing at Liverpool John Moores University.

Rebecca said: “I didn’t think I could achieve these grades but my teachers really pushed me and now I can embark on my dream career to be a children’s nurse”.

After entering the UK towards the end of his GCSE studies and at the start of the pandemic, Moez worked relentlessly to achieve his GCSEs in the first year of sixth form. 

He then went on to study IT and digital media at level 3, achieving two distinction* in IT and a merit in digital media.

Moez will now be studying computer security and networks at Edge Hill University in order to pursue a successful career in the IT industry. 

Moez has shown that through hard work and determination, anything is possible.

Moez commented: “Work hard, never give up and always listen to your teachers! I have loved my experience at All Saints Sixth Form College. 

“If it wasn’t for such amazing teachers, I would not have achieved this!”

Olivia has secured a distinction* in law and business and a grade B in religious studies. Olivia will be attending the University of Liverpool to study philosophy.

Delighted with her results, Olivia said: “The exams came around faster than I thought, and I would advise other students to start revising in Y12. 

“I am so proud of my results and have loved my time at All Saints Sixth Form College.”

Throughout the pandemic, students across the UK have had to adjust to changes in their education such as a shift to being taught online and grades being determined by a prediction-based system. 

This year’s students were the first to sit exams as normal since 2019.

Mrs Jeniffer Sing, headteacher of All Saints Sixth Form College and The Academy of St Nicholas said: “As always, I am delighted with the All Saints Sixth Form College students for all that they have achieved and for their impressive A-level and BTEC results, they are a credit to the college.

“Whilst they may not have had the typical sixth form experience because of the pandemic, the students dealt very well with the challenges that they were faced with and worked exceptionally hard. 

“We wish them all the luck in the world as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

Mrs Lawson, Head of Sixth Form congratulated all of the students on their success. “All of the students have worked really hard and should be extremely proud of their achievements. 

“I wish them every success as they move onto university, apprenticeships or employment.”

The college is part of the All Saints Multi Academy Trust which includes The Academy of St Nicholas, also based in Garston, and The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, Kensington.
