Maghull High School sees scores of visitors attend open evening

Maghull High School’s annual open evening took place on Thursday, 11 September, and saw over 1,000 people passing through its doors.

Prospective students, parents and carers were greeted by hundreds of the school’s excited student volunteers who couldn’t wait to take families on a tour of their school.

In addition to student led tours, headteacher, Mr Matthew Kay, delivered three talks throughout the evening. During the talks he shared his inclusive vision for the school and demonstrated why it is a popular school within the area.

Current students, Matilda and Alessio, also wrote their own speech sharing their experience of joining Maghull High School. They blew everyone away with their confident and enthusiastic delivery.

Prospective families got to meet school staff across academic subjects to get a taste of what happens within classrooms. They took part in exciting science experiments, dressed up in costumes from the creative and expressive arts department, and attempted to take on various challenges in English and maths.

Food technology, once again, proved hugely popular as families enjoyed an array of treats baked by students and staff. The school’s catering team made a delicious spread, allowing prospective students, parents and carers to sample the canteen menu which is a big hit with current students in the school.

Families were also able to meet with inclusive support teams, as well as student wellbeing and pastoral care teams to explore how students are supported throughout their journey at Maghull High School.

Thanks to the team at CPMM Media Group, visitors were able to hear from current students about what a day in the life of a Maghull High School student looks like in its new, informative transition video.

Due to the number of visitors attending the open evening, there will be another chance to visit Maghull High School at its open morning on Saturday, 11 October between 10am-12pm.
