Our Lady of Good Help Primary welcomes new headteacher

Our Lady of Good Help Primary School (OLGH) has welcomed Mark McQuiston as its new headteacher following the unfortunate passing of Miss Peacock in February this year.

Mr McQuiston has worked at OLGH Primary since 2015, taking up the role of assistant headteacher prior to his new appointment.

He said: “I have the knowledge and understanding of our unique situation and the journey that we have been on together. I am passionate about the prosperity of our school, our children, our families and our staff.

“During my time at OLGH, I have fulfilled a variety of roles: class teacher; staff governor; leader of mathematics, PE and computing; curriculum development lead; assistant headteacher and acting headteacher.

“This breadth of experience provides me with the ability to understand the various roles and responsibilities within a school and the empathy to see situations from different perspectives, which is critical to strong leadership.”

McQuiston has made clear his commitment to OLGH’s Catholic values, seeking to “uphold the traditions of our faith and the sense of spiritual belonging that exists in our school”, as well as the promotion of “Gospel Values” and strengthening the connections between themselves and the Archdiocese, parish and other schools within the parish.

“My desire is for Our Lady of Good Help to be a forward-thinking, outward-looking school and building strong relationships and networks is critical to this.”

He also payed tribute to the work of his predecessor, stating that Miss Peacock did an amazing job during her time at OLGH.

“My mission is to build upon her legacy, to grow our community and, above all, every child must be valued and prioritised; they must have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and be afforded the opportunity to expand upon their experiences, learn new skills and develop new talents.

“We pride ourselves on ensuring our children feel safe and happy in an environment that is conducive to learning and provides the care and support that is essential for children to thrive. We have a strong Catholic ethos, inclusive values as well as welcoming children and families of all faiths and backgrounds.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have been appointed the headteacher of Our Lady of Good Help Primary School!”
