Progress Careers appoint new managing director

Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) provider Progress Careers has appointed Paula Thompson as managing director after five months in an interim position.

Paula previously worked as the operations executive for Progress Careers and joined the business in 2017 as a careers adviser.

Before joining the business, Paula spent ten years at Outwood Academy.

Here, she had several roles, including head of careers, sixth form learning manager, and associate assistant principal.

In 2017, Paula completed her Master of Arts in career development at Nottingham Trent University.

She then went on to achieve a postgraduate degree in leadership and management in 2020.

Her extensive experience means she is well-equipped to lead national operations for Progress Careers.

Already well embedded in working with a number of schools, the post will see Paula drive the organisation to support even more educational institutions to meet their responsibility to provide high-quality, impartial CEIAG.

Speaking on her appointment, Paula said: “I am delighted to spearhead national operations for Progress Careers.

“Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance is crucial to a young person’s education. It is so important for young people to identify the most suitable pathways for them and make informed decisions about their future.

“As a business, we are committed to supporting the schools we work with to fulfil their CEIAG responsibilities.

“We have taken huge strides to develop our service offering, including the introduction of iProgress – a bespoke digital careers platform.”

Progress Careers is part of a larger group of training and education specialists – The Progress Group.

The Progress Group comprises six subsidiaries, providing training and education to individuals aged from 8- 60 across England.

Speaking on Paula’s appointment, The Progress Group CEO, Jayne Worthington said: “As a group, we pride ourselves on our commitment to delivering high-quality and effective education and training and too often the basic blocks of good CEIAG are missed and we are on a mission to change this.

“I am so excited for this appointment as Paula comes into this role with a wealth of knowledge and experience within the sector and the business.

“I know that Paula will absolutely move Progress Careers forward in line with need and demand and am confident Paula will positively impact the business in the coming months and years meaning we beneficially support more young people in their life journey.”
