Pupils from Skelmersdale Primary School star in international exhibition

Children from Little Digmoor Primary School have starred in an international photography exhibition to promote the importance of hygiene in schools.

Little Digmoor Primary School recently hosted renowned photographer Åsa Sjostrom, who spent two days at the school capturing shots for the Essity and Fotografiska Hand-to-Hand exhibition in Stockholm.

Several children featured in a series of photographs that went on display at the Fotografiska gallery in September helping to drive awareness about the importance of good hygiene in primary schools. The exhibition will be open to the public until December.

The exhibition, part of Essity’s School Hygiene Essentials Initiative, features Little Digmoor pupils telling the story of how low hygiene standards and poor hygiene habits in UK primary schools are negatively impacting children and teachers while costing the UK economy up to £11m per year.

Deputy headteacher Karen Houldsworth was invited by Essity to attend the opening of the exhibition:

Karen said: “It was so rewarding to see our wonderful students as the focus of the Fotografiska exhibition in Stockholm. I am so proud that our school could help Essity as a local manufacturer to promote the incredibly important issue of hygiene amongst children.

“Having a renowned photographer come in to the school was a great experience for the pupils at Little Digmoor and I am sure the accolade of being part of an international photography exhibition will stay with them for a long time.”
