Rainford High jingles all the way to Christmas!

Rainford High and Rainford Sixth Form recently celebrated its third annual Christmas Fayre and raised over £2,000 for local causes.

The school was transformed into a winter wonderland and had over 60 stalls selling a range of locally sourced and artisanal products, such as jewellery, personalised gifts, hampers, Christmas decorations and ceramic sculptures, to name just a few.

To refuel after Christmas shopping, visitors had an array of delicious treats to choose from including a hog roast, waffles, crepes and cakes by the last year’s Apprentice winner Ridiculous Rich by Alana.

Everyone in the school contributed to the success of the night and the creativity and hard work of the pupils and staff alike was clear to see. From the generous donations to the St Helens Foodbank by Year 7 pupils, to the international flavour that the modern foreign languages department brought with their handmade Spanish biscuits and cards as well as the sentimental memory tree decorations the English department organised with pupils’ thoughtful poems.

Throughout the night, the school was alive with Christmas cheer as pupils wowed visitors with their musical and artistic talents, from the spectacular performances of the school’s concert band and choir to the dazzling dance show.

Sixth form students ensured guests got into the festive spirit with face painting and card marking. Father Christmas also made a special appearance much to the delight of the younger attendees.

As part of the fayre, the school raised over £2,000 for local causes, topping last year’s total. The money will be donated to its nominated charities: Alder Hey, Ormskirk Toy Appeal, St Helens Foodbank, Community Christmas, Mind Matters, Clatterbridge & Chris Carberry’s life-saving treatment.

Principal of Rainford High, Ian Young said: “The annual Rainford Christmas Fayre is always a great spectacle and it is fantastic to see the school, sixth form and the local community come together. I’m so proud of everyone’s fundraising efforts and hope it can benefit each cause.”
