Sporty Simon takes top prize

Mosspits Lane Primary School are celebrating after winning The National Wildflower Centre Scarecrow Festival competition in the Under 7’s section

The annual scarecrow making competition was this year judged by Caroline Davies, public open spaces manager and Cath Seil, green space development officer from Knowsley Council. Together they tackled the difficult job of judging the 49 entries; all created by local schools and community groups from across Merseyside.

The theme of this years event was ‘Happy & healthy outdoors’

Caroline Davies said: “It was such a difficult job to have to choose a winner from each category. They’re all amazing! Well done to everyone who took part’

Mosspits entry was titled – Sporty Simon Simply Cycling.

The Under 12’s winning scarecrow – Miss R E Cycling was made by The Christian Fellowship School.

All entries of the competition will now go on display at the Wildflower Centre, in Huyton were people are invited to go along and take a walk around whilst admiring the wonderful scarecrows made by schools and community groups from across Merseyside.
