Students resolve world issues

Students from Winstanley College headed to Augsburg in Germany to take part in the 2019 Model United Nations Conference.

It was the fifth year running that Winstanley has taken part in the international event, which involves representing a country in teams and debating a range of topical issues including poverty, climate change and even world peace.

Delegates had to present themselves in different roles including the General Assembly and The World Health Organisation. They also drafted resolutions to the problems discussed with many of these being successfully passed, resulting in a real sense of achievement.

Winstanley had a challenge with Venezuela, Belgium and Turkey to represent; however with the team’s skill and diplomacy there was no need to call in the Security Council!
