‘Tis the season of goodwill at Rainford High

Pupils at Rainford High Technology College have raised over £2,000 for good causes this festive season.

The school hosted a Christmas Fair to raise money for organisations close to the school community.

Pupils, parents, and staff enjoyed the school’s second annual Christmas fair, complete with Santa’s grotto, craft stalls, brass band and carol singing.

Over £1,500 was raised on the day to donate to a number of local charities supported by the school, as well as an additional £500 for St Helens Young Carers Centre.

The school will also donate 300 toys for children in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Ormskirk NHS Trust.

The whole school came together to organise and support the event, Year 9 pupils made crafts and gifts to sell at the fair, while Year 10 donated gifts for the tombola, and Year 11 donated selection boxes for Santa’s grotto.

Ian Young, principal at Rainford High, said: “I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who attended and helped organise our Christmas fair – Christmas truly is a time for giving back and being thankful.

“The Christmas fair has been inspired by members of staff whose children have been in both Alder Hey and Ormskirk hospitals over the Christmas period. The care and attention they received by the hospital staff at this difficult time has inspired us as a school to make a difference for others who are in need at Christmas”.
