Broughton Hall clinch sprint double as girls shine
A heavy downpour failed to dampen the spirits yesterday as the cream of the city’s female athletes took centre stage at the Liverpool City Secondary Schools Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Competitors from Years 7-10 took to track and field at Wavertree Athletics Centre with the title of city champion as the ultimate goal, and there were many fascinating battles to enjoy on a day when the changeable weather also played a key role.
Notable performers included Belvedere Academy’s sprint sensation Mia Morris-Roe who reigned supreme in the 75M sprint for Year 7, and the relay teams from Broughton Hall who clinched a memorable double in the Year 7&8 races.
Like their counterparts from the boys’ competition the previous day, the winners will go on to to represent the city at a regional event later on in the year.
