Caldies’ pupils inspired for future careers
Over 40 businesses took part in Calderstones School’s Inspiring Your Future Event yesterday (Monday 18 July) to showcase the varied further education and career opportunities available to pupils.
Pupils across all year groups had the opportunity to visit different stands, speak to industry experts and receive invaluable advice for their next stage of their education, whether they wish to go on to further education, an apprenticeship or university.
Public Services including the police, fire and rescue, armed forces and the NHS were there on the day to talk through the hands-on, rewarding aspects of their careers as well as showcasing practical skills such as CPR.
Elsewhere, the huge variety of exciting career paths in STEM were highlighted by the likes of Liverpool Hope University, TTE, Jaguar Land Rover and SP Energy Networks.
The rising opportunities in the digital, media and design sector were also showcased by The City of Liverpool College and The Foundry Agency, an integrated communications agency based in Liverpool.
As the sun shone over the courtyard, pupils took up DJing with Mode Training and learned the tricks of the trade at its own hairdressing salon. The LFC Foundation and Jamie Carragher Sports & Learning Academy focused on sporting career paths while the Military Preparation College put pupils through their paces with reflex exercises.
Other exhibitors included Shop direct, NCS Ingeus, St Helens College and University Centre St Helens, Morrisons, Liverpool Chiro, Aldi, Liverpool John Moores University and Peloton Liverpool.
Throughout the day the Calderstones Student Leadership team were on hand to help guests and to oversee the smooth running of the event.
