Hop on for Healthy Eating!

A Sefton primary school hosts a touring fruit and vegetable bus for its school community.

Springwell Park School and Children’s Centre in Bootle has been encouraging healthy eating with a touring fruit and vegetable bus.

The Bananarama bus stops at the school every Monday and sells local, quality produce at reduced prices. Pupils and families can board the bus and purchase their fruit and vegetables, and even place orders that can be collected the following week.

The bus is part of fleet of fruit buses that tour throughout the North West run by U R What U Eat, a not for profit community organisation. The organisation has been awarded with the Workplace Wellbeing Charter and is endorsed by the NHS and Liverpool Mutual Homes.

Assistant headteacher at Springwell Park, Tracy Webley, says the aim of this initiative is to provide affordable, quality fruit and vegetables to its families and encourage a healthy diet.

The school works hard to find initiatives which benefit its community and says the Bananarama bus is proving very popular.

Hop on the Bananarama bus at Springwell Park School on Monday’s at 2.30 – 3.30 pm.
