Progress Schools named Most Inspirational Alternative Provision by a School at Educate Awards

The team at Progress Schools are overjoyed after being named the ‘Most Inspirational Alternative Provision by a School’ at the virtual Educate Awards ceremony last week.  

Based inside the Fire Fit Hub, Toxteth, Progress Schools Liverpool provides an alternative education provision for young people in the local community who’s learning needs are best met outside of mainstream school.  

The staff at the Liverpool site are committed to stepping inside the shoes of their students and finding out their ambitions, however big or small, before tailoring the teaching programmes to meet their needs.  

When it came to selecting the winners, the judges were looking for examples of how schools had met the individual needs of their students, so it was no surprise Progress Schools stood out from the crowd. Staff understand that each student has a unique personality with different learning requirements, they take the time to get to know their students and understand them. 

The whole team were left reeling after the news was announced. Progress Schools CEO, James Madine said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded Most Inspirational Alternative Provision by a School at the Educate Awards. This award wouldn’t have been possible without the continued commitment and dedication of the staff at Progress Schools Liverpool. 

“We pride ourselves on our ability to understand the needs of our students and tailor their education to best support their success. The award is a testament to the hard work of all our staff, both teaching and support who continually go above and beyond to help our students to thrive. We are honoured to have won and will continue to support our young people through our bespoke alternative provision.” 

Progress Schools, Hamilton Square were also named runners up in the Careers & Enterprise category, after being pipped-to-the-post by Myerscough College. Progress Schools provides education for 11 – 16-year-olds who have struggled to progress and engage in mainstream school. Through their tailored teaching, the team prepare young people for further education, work-based learning, or employment.  

The prestigious Educate Awards ceremony usually takes centre stage in the Liverpool Cathedral but due to COVID it was broadcast virtually across its YouTube channel. After a difficult year for educational professionals, the virtual event was a welcomed celebration of the continued hard work that is happening across schools in the North West.
