Some advice for results day

Ahead of the A-level results this Thursday and GCSEs next Thursday, Educate Magazine spoke to James McGinn, partnership manager at North Liverpool School Sports Partnership for some words of advice for pupils awaiting their results.

James added that there isn’t such a thing as a wrong path, so long as you are prepared to focus on what you want.

What would you say to your former 18-year-old self when it comes to A-level results day?

Relax! It’s a stepping-stone on your life journey.

What would you say to your former 16-year-old self when it comes to GCSE results day?

You’ve worked hard, now find your passion and follow it.

What piece of advice would you give?

Focus on what makes you happy and never stop trying.

What piece of advice you wish you’d known?

Anyone can go to university; YOU just have to want to.

Do you have any tips for parents of how best to support a teen on results day?

Be positive and supportive. There’s enough pressure in life.

How did you find your career route? Did you follow a straight path or go your own way?

I wanted to earn money first, then realised the importance of education!

What is the most important thing for any student to remember on results day?

It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the expected results. You will succeed if you focus on want you want.
