Tutor offers GCSE maths support for free
Robin Steere MBE is offering free help to GCSE students in isolation should they require maths tuition during this period.
Via skype, the tuition covers over 100 complete maths lessons including GCSE maths foundation and higher levels.
Robin has over 50 years teaching experience and since retirement 25 years ago, he has dedicated his time by volunteering at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital teaching maths to patients.
This selfless work saw him awarded an MBE in 2014.
Wendy Henshaw, deputy headteacher at in charge of ACE and the Hospital School, said: “Robin is still giving up his time to teach Maths to a great many number of pupils. This is either at the bedside of a patient in hospital or supporting a teacher with a maths class. In addition, he has provided intervention for individual pupils who are either struggling with aspects of Maths or gifted. He has tutored a number of gifted pupils to achieve top grades in GCSE Maths and have gone on to study Maths further.
“However, the greatest gift that Robin has is in developing supportive relationships with pupils. The pupils look up to Robin and hold him in great esteem. He genuinely cares about the pupils and has been a role model to them. He is reassuring and helps them build up their confidence and self-esteem.”
