Whitefield Primary School ‘Fab dads and grandads reading cafe’

Educate magazine were lucky enough to pay a visit to Whitefield Primary school earlier in the week, to find out about their new Fab Dads and Granddads Reading Café, which takes place every Wednesday morning.

We were so impressed with the variety of reading going on, from online books and websites, to comics, to classic storybooks. Even more exciting was how engaged the students were: as you can see, they barely noticed the camera!

It’s wonderful to see such a simple, successful initiative being used to encourage literacy. As it says on one of the library posters; ‘today a reader, tomorrow a leader’!
