Liverpool actor Neil Fitzmaurice returns to host the Educate Awards

We are delighted to announce that Neil Fitzmaurice will be returning to host this year’s Educate Awards, held in the stunning Liverpool Cathedral on 21st November.

The award winning Liverpool comedian, actor and writer, who has appeared in classics such as Phoenix Nights and The Office, will host the event, now in its third year, which shines a spotlight on the innovative education throughout Merseyside.

Neil is a well-known face on our TV screens, with some impressive TV credits to his name. In 2009, Neil starred as the then Liverpool FC manager Rafael Benitez, in the hugely successful film ’15 Minutes That Shook The World’ – a comedy surrounding the memorable 2005 Champion’s League Final when Liverpool proudly defeated AC Milan to lift the cup.

His hosting duties will see him take a break from his busy filming schedule, which currently includes filming the second series of the very successful CBBC children’s TV comedy show ‘Hank Zipzer’ alongside Henry Winkler.

Kim O’Brien, executive editor of Educate Magazine, is delighted Neil is returning to the awards stage, saying: “We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Neil back to host our annual Educate Awards. Every year we celebrate all the inspiring, talented work within Merseyside schools, so who better to host the evening than a BAFTA nominated, British Comedy Award winning Liverpool talent!”

The award nominations are now closed and the judging process is already underway. This year the judging panel includes Cllr Gary Millar, cabinet member for business, enterprise and investment, Chris Walker, regional managing editor of Trinity Mirror North West and North Wales, Lesley Martin-Wright, chief executive of Knowsley Chamber, Mark Beedles, managing director of Connex Education, Andrew Pimbley of Claremont Farm and Wirral’s Farm Feast, and the education team at the respected Everyman and Playhouse Theatres.
