Alsop High School gets a ‘breakfast boost’

Food manufacturing company, Kellogg’s, has awarded Alsop High School in Walton £1,000 to enhance its breakfast club provision and help feed young people at the start of the school day.

Alsop was selected to receive this boost as Kellogg’s announced it is donating more money than ever.

The reason for this is more schools have struggled to find the budget to fund this needed service for their students.

Breakfast clubs have many benefits, from attendance and attainment to alleviating hunger and providing pre-school care.

In research conducted by Kellogg’s, 68% of teachers nationally believe students would struggle to concentrate in class without breakfast clubs.

Mr Paul Masher, headteacher at Alsop High School, said: “We are so grateful to receive this generous donation to sustain and expand our much needed breakfast service for Alsop students and their families. 

“Thank you to Kellogg’s for their support.”

Kate Prince, corporate social responsibility manager at Kellogg’s, said: “We’re proud to have spent over 20 years supporting so many schools across the UK. 

“We believe all young people should have the opportunity to start the day with breakfast, and we know that equipment and resources are just as important to clubs as the food itself.”

Kellogg’s has supported 4000 school breakfast clubs with funds, food and training over the last 23 years.

That adds up to 70 million bowls of cereal to children over the UK since 1998.
